The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Government, works in partnership with the World Bank’s Resilient and Accessible Microfinance (RAM) Project administered by the State Bank of Pakistan. Through the project “Introduction of Innovative Climate Risk Financing Solutions”, GIZ Pakistan is launching the Agriculture Finance Innovation Challenge (AFIC) to support the expansion of agriculture technology in microfinance.
About AFIC:
AFIC will identify and support innovative Agriculture Technology Companies (ATCs) that can partner with microfinance providers (MFPs) to design, test, and pilot bundled agri-finance solutions. Selected ATCs will receive targeted grants, technical support, and visibility to scale solutions that improve farm profitability, productivity, and resilience.
Successful ATCs will receive:

Grant funding of up to EUR 100,000 to adapt and scale their solutions with MFPs.

Support for product integration with MFP systems, staff training, and pilot implementation under the Innovative Agriculture Liquidity (IAL) facility.
Eligibility Requirements:
Companies applying must meet the following criteria:

Be a registered legal entity in Pakistan for at least 2 years.

Hold an active NTN and Sales Tax registration with relevant authorities.

Have at least 2 years of experience providing technology-based agriculture services or products (e.g., advisory services, digital tools, input linkages, crop monitoring, post-harvest solutions).

Provide audited financial statements for the last two years with a minimum turnover of PKR 50 million over the two-year period.

Must not be blacklisted by any public or private organization, including donor-funded programs (Declaration/Affidavit required).
Application Content:
Interested companies should submit a company profile with a clear table of contents. Each eligibility requirement should be addressed in a separate section, supported by documentation.
The profile should include:

Description of services currently offered by the ATC
-
Type of technology used (at farm/borrower level or lender/MFP level)
-
Current use and coverage (number of farmers served, sectors covered, geographic spread, and intended targets)

Product sustainability, including pricing model
Next Steps:

ATCs that pass the technical assessment will be invited to a matchmaking event in Karachi (date to be announced).

Selected partnerships will then compete for AFIC grants to support pilot projects.
